Translating Trends for Real Life

Spring Transition Outfit

May 6, 2018

Well Spring… you have arrived. We have been soaking up the sun so much and today is just no different! I hope you are all enjoying your weekend as well! I know we are all gearing up for a fun May- with Mother’s Day and Graduations just around the bend!

Today’s outfit, features some great layering pieces that are perfect for transitioning. These months so so funny, and If you follow me on stories at all, you know I have been a habitual changer- of clothes- several times a day! Ha! Layering though is key, and this navy blazer is one of my favorites! It has a great shape to dress up your outfit, but the material keeps it casual. 🙂 The Pineapple Tee is so fun and cute, and the pineapples are metallic! Fun graphics are always a win for me. My Sneakers were my go-to shoe on vacation, they were so comfortable, if you are in the market for a white tennis shoe- look no further friends! Keds are on the way back!

You can find all my outfit details linked below, as a reminder if you would like to shop anything in store, come shop with me THIS THURSDAY at our local EVEREVE Store. I would love to see you there. All the details are below as well.

Thank you for stopping by!

Mother’s Day and a special invitation!

April 29, 2018

Hello Friends!

Gosh, the weather seems to be turning in the right direction for us lately! When I shot these photos the other day- you know I was very happy to have nice weather! Typically for Mother’s Day our family with schedule brunch and I will take my mom to the Blowout Bar to get our hair styled. This year with baseball ruling all our weekends, we are taking the year off of our normal tradition. I celebrated with my Mom on Friday with a little shopping and wine tasting. We had a great time and it was fun to try something different!

Something else  I have planned before Mother’s Day and I am VERY excited about is that I have planned a Style Social with EVEREVE. You all know how much I love shopping in their store so I thought it would be so FUN to have you come shop with me! This is a fun opportunity to bring the girls out and have some fun!

My recent Try On Session is total swoon worthy, who wouldn’t want a little girls time to get you prepped our big weekend! Come hang out with me and let’s shop together!

The details of the event are in the graphic at the bottom of this post!

I hope to see you soon!

One of my recent purchases at EVEREVE and it’s quickly becoming one of my favorites. These joggers are so easy to wear, soft, somewhat stretchy, mid rise and are totally on trend with the rust color. You can’t go wrong with monogram necklaces, and especially for Mother’s Day- I am wearing the monogram of my boys- one for each. Do I even need to go any further with the camouflage? Didn’t think so. 🙂

Floral + Gray and getting REAL personal.

April 23, 2018

My weekends tend to be crazy booked and this past was no different! Being able to to have some time to organize my thoughts and myself really is so good for me!

I also have been reflecting a bit about my “Why” and what my purpose is here with this blog and what I decide on for the content of it. I did dive into this a bit on my Instagram Story Highlights, on why I created TheMomInStyle, and what I feel my passions are. Feel free to take a look at that as well, but I feel I can at this time go a bit deeper. See, there was a LONG period of time in my life where I felt completely unfulfilled in inadequate. I felt I had no strength physically or mentally. My days dragged on, I felt I had no purpose and didn’t really know what I was doing with my life. I used alcohol and food to make myself feel temporarily better. Do that for several years, my mind and my body couldn’t really take much more.

One day, pregnant with my second baby, I felt like I couldn’t breathe just walking in the parking lot of a store. I know when you’re pregnant, things tend to be a little off, but I KNEW deep down inside, I had eaten myself to a weight that my body could no longer handle. In that moment I felt disgusted with myself and snapped. I  knew that I could no longer do this to myself, and I vowed to MYSELF and FOR my boys- I would turn this around.

BUT HOW?! When you get so deep into something, and you create such horrible habits for yourself, and your negative self talk is SO STRONG.. HOW do you actually turn it around? When I gave birth the second time, I was JUST shy of 300 lbs. So where do you start? What I did was educate myself,  on food, exercise and heathy habits. I surrounded myself on Facebook, Instagram with accounts that I felt were going through the same thing as me.

This education/workout videos/ friendships eventually snowballed into more and more curiosity on how I can be the BEST version of myself. (You guys when I started I LITERALLY walked a MILE in my basement or did 30 minutes on the elliptical.)  My Mantra has been “My life will get better when I do.”  and it’s still able my sink . Starting small and  building from there led me to eventual success. I shed over 100lbs but my strength in my mind is something I never expected.

TODAY:

This leads me to where I am today. This blog, and my dreams of styling women- are for one purpose- to help those in the same place I was for far too long. I’m not here to preach my fitness routine, or tell you what to eat. Or even to buy my outfit. (gasp)

THE PURPOSE… is to inspire and To say ” You can too.”

You guys, its hard to put myself out there, and share so much. Going through all this though.. and the pain and struggle, its what gives me the confidence to do all this. And somewhere…. someone NEEDS THIS. I have a responsibility to share.

Life is messy ladies, and there’s so much more to MY Story than an outfit. My parents are divorced, I have a blended family, I’ve been overweight, my Dad is fighting a life threatening disease, I’m always unsure if my kids are going to make it in the world. Did I prepare them enough? The list GOES ON. But I’m fighting through it, and working hard to be the best I can be for myself and my family.

I want you to know, I am with you sister. I have a love for fashion, and my purpose is to help. Show what you can do from what you have, and If you don’t have it, hopefully we can get a deal on it. It’s all apart of puzzle that helps us be the best we can be.

ABOUT THIS LOOK:

This outfit is nothing new I have purchased, its all just pulled out and put together on the fly.  Just like we do nearly everyday. Perfectly themed for the focus of this post to be more about LIFE than what I just bought.

Nonetheless, It made me feel good the day I shot this look. So there is no reason why I wouldn’t want to pass this feeling on to you, my friends.  Just keep in mind, if I get blessed enough to have you follow along here and on Social Media, the outfits are NOT about comparison, its to help inspire.

Smocked Floral Dress for Spring

April 18, 2018

Hey there! What a week so far! We have had nothing but cold and snow this week, and I keep thinking about how terrific it would be to at least have a bit of sunshine! This week’s blog post came a bit early for us,  because why wouldn’t we want a little sunshine and a SALE. 🙂

If figure that, if I can roundup my favorites from the latest LOFT Sale, and show you one another one of my favorite dresses, why not? (Reminder 40% off is with code FRIENDS) Honestly, when I saw this dress hanging, I wasn’t so sure… But when I tried it on, the fact that I looked instantly 10 lbs. slimmers- sold. I wore it around a bit on vacation, and I really fell in love with it. The material is soft, and the fit is perfect. It was a great little vacation dress and will be perfect for summertime barbecues and beyond. When you catch it on sale, you can’t go wrong.

I would not be taking so much time to show you all this sale if I didn’t think it was worth it. I really enjoy these styles, and they will definitely take you through multiple seasons. I rounded up more favorites and purchases from the sale- keep scrolling to find all the goodies.

As always, Thank You for stopping by- I hope you have a great rest of the week!

Obviously Obsessing: Palm Prints

April 15, 2018

Happy Sunday Everyone! I am so excited to bring you this blog topic- its definitely been one of my favorites. Last year I totally obsessed over Pineapples- I wanted everything I owned to be a pineapple. 🙂 And it kind of succeeded in a way. I have delightfully been enjoying my pineapple accents over the past year.  This season though, Palm and Botanical prints have totally stolen me away! I am in TOTAL love.  It makes me happy, and the bright green is a color I don’t typically wear or have a lot of. I just can’t help but smile- when I see it!

Palm prints are trendy right now for sure, and with the season turning warmer- It’s perfect timing to dip your toes into this trend!  Start with it as a statement piece- kind of like the kimono I wore on Friday Find it here.

This print is happy, fresh and there’s something out there for everyone. This print is seen in jewelry, bags, dressed, shirts – everywhere. I rounded up TONS of my favorites that I have seen out there, and I encourage you to give it a try. Its bound to make you happy too, and help give you a jumpstart into summer.

As Always, Thank you for stopping by, and I hope you enjoy!

April 8, 2018

Happy Sunday Everyone! I know that Winter is seemingly dragging, queue the snow we had TWICE this past week! I am looking forward to a few warm days myself!  Floral dresses are being seen everywhere right now, and this Ohio Girl cannot wait to be able to wear mine! Spring is such a fun time to be able to be playful with dresses and happy with color choices.

I have rounded up my absolute favorite Floral Dresses for you today and I am so excited to share! Floral dresses are available in SO many different styles that you will be hard pressed not to find one you love! I shot this weeks ago, and STILL love this outfit. My  dress speaks to me in the colors! I LOVE seeing the pop of pink! The shape of the dress is light and airy, and still flattering. Its definitely a statement dress, so I kept the accessories simple.

As always, Thank You for stopping by and have an amazing day!

My 5 Must Do Items at Disney

April 2, 2018

Our most recent trip to Disney, was no doubt one of our favorites. It is always amazing just to have experiences together and bond at one of our most favorite resorts that we get to call home. We have been Vacation Club Members for several years, and it has been one of the best decisions we have ever made!

Of course in our travels we have explored LOTS of things in the parks! Though we haven’t seen it all, we definitely have our favorites.

Here’s MY Top 5 Tips:

  1. Hang out by the Pool: The Grand Floridian is one of the most beautiful resorts in Orlando, and we enjoy EVERY Minute! We take full advantage of all the children’s games, beach and relaxation time when we aren’t at the park! The boys absolutely love hanging out there, and its just a great time take a break and enjoy the sun! I know a LOT of you liked my SUIT- so I linked it for you below.

My Swim Outfit:   Swimsuit : Tortoise Sunglasses : Black Swim Coverup : Hat

2. Magic Kingdom’s Dumbo Ride: When the boys were little, this is one of the rides we ALWAYS took them on, and now the tradition continues! This is really just out of nostalgia, but we all still enjoy it together!

2. Magic Kingdom’s Pineapple Whip: We LOVE enjoying a Pineapple Whip in the hot Florida sunshine at Magic Kingdom. For those that don’t know- its a Sherbet style treat that is PINEAPPLE! 🙂 and OMG is it GOOD! We always do our best to stick in the line (which sometimes can be loooong) at Aloha Aisle at the park, but I have just learned there are other locations now!

Shop This Look Here:

4. A Picture in Front of the Castle: Sounds cliché, I know. BUT I will tell you it has been so fun to look back after each visit and see how much the kids have grown! And if you haven’t been, let me tell you- it’s a site to behold. So many childhood movies and dreams have been wrapped around that castle and it does FEEL magical to see it. You just can’t resist taking the photo Op.

5. WEAR YOUR EARS!… Ok, this one is more for the Moms instead of the kids. Wearing my Ears, wasn’t JUST because they were rose gold.. although I mean.. THEY ARE AWESOME! First, the boys loved when I wore them…Kinda like that time we dressed up as The Incredibles for Halloween.. 🙂 Ha. But I kind of felt like it’s a way to let loose.  Of not being so serious and in kind of an unintentional way, they help me say ‘Yes’, to more and let go of what others might think… That might be a deep way of thinking about silly ears, but  I guess that’s what they do for me. I let go of all the ‘stuff’ and just put on the Darn Ears and have fun! After all, I can’t just wear them everyday at home, so why not? Just do it.

As always thanks for stopping by, and if you are going on a trip sometime soon, I hope you share it with me!

Easy Easter Outfit

March 24, 2018

Since Ohio is pretty darn unpredictable when it comes to the weather at Easter, I don’t typically get to wear all those super cute dresses. However that doesn’t mean that I don’t like to dress springlike! Most of the time my Easter Sundays are spent just like any other Sunday, struggling to get everyone out the door, but with the added potential egg hunt and of course brunch. So Mama gets to look forward to her Mimosa for sure!
The Celebration of Easter, means so much to my me and my family and I don’t like to disappoint. I want to give my best and I can’t be worried about my outfit, comfort is a MUST. My outfit is always on my mind, because I need something that is going to be seasonally appropriate, and fun but MOST importantly- functional!

The Outfit:

What I’ve decided to wear will combine all the things. My Pink Top was chosen from a recent Try On session. My shoes are functional and can be easily worn for several outfits (similar here). This ankle pant is an interesting twist on a typical black pant.

Spring Getaway: My Must Have Outfit Roundup

March 9, 2018

IMG_4546.JPG

My Spring Break Style Shopping Guide has been out for a bit, and I recently had the pleasure of being able to spend time with my family in sunny San Clemente, California. My brother and his family recently moved to Camp Pendleton, so we enjoyed seeing his new home and hanging with all my nieces and nephew. My boys were super excited, but just like any time I travel with them, I have a decent sized list of stuff to bring with us!

IMG_4940.JPG

Here’s what I packed and wore on my trip:

  1. Breakfast Outfit/Early morning outfit.. Not Pajamas :)…  Sounds high maintenance, I know, but when the boys wake up they are READY TO EAT.. and I’m not always ready to roll for the day… And when we stay in a hotel – it’t not always easy to make food –So I always pack an easy to throw on outfit, that aren’t my pajamas.. that I can feel comfortable going out out in public in.
fullsizeoutput_43a8.jpeg

This outfit was easy to throw on and I felt somewhat put together when I was at the restaurant. AND YES.. I wore it everyday at breakfast 🙂

2. Workout Outfit: Ya’ll know Mommin’ ain’t easy… And traveling with kids is not an exception.  I usually TRY to workout 2-3 while on vacay– I did once on this trip.. So in that case, I used my workout clothes for the obvious reasons… BUT for a potential DOUBLE USE— I always have this for the unexpected Sh*t Show–Weather, attitudes and activities can all make a big play for me… and when I just don’t have time for my mules… Workout clothes to the rescue. 🙂

IMG_3599.jpg

My Nike Metcon have been terrific, easy for actually working out– or chasing after kids. — And my black workout capris– I mean.. Duh. 🙂

3.  Casual Shopping Outfit: One of my favorite things to do while on vacation… besides site seeing, hanging with family, beaching, going to the candy store… (like we did nearly everyday) or eating…. I mean do you know me at all? 🙂 *wink*… is shopping. So I always need an outfit that can be worn to walk around and just hang.  Actually, it can be worn for all of the above.:)

fullsizeoutput_4580

Hayden helped take many photos: And my Graphic Tee + Bomber Jacket + <3[/caption]   [caption id="attachment_599" align="aligncenter" width="593"]fullsizeoutput_4574 I absolutely love this color combo- its my one pop of color that I NEEDED on this trip.

TOP PACKING PIECE OF ADVICE:

Bring items with you that you can mix and match.  You can plan all you want – but sometimes you just have to go with it. So by bringing items with you that can be worn more than onetime, AND they color coordinate- will really help take the stress away from traveling.

IMG_4937.JPG

Finally:    Don’t sweat it.     Go Have Fun.     Get Dirty.      Go to the Candy Store.

Don’t let the little things get in the way. They are only this old once,  and you’ll never get them back at this EXACT time. Take your picture with them, and love on them only the way a Mama can.

Show me your pictures when you get back!
