Stripe Dress with Moto Jacket

Hi Friends!

As promised this FAB stripe dress is on the blog this week. It was apart of my Target Fall Roundup last week! I styled it last week in the try on session at home a bit more dressed up, and this week this is more “street style”! Its the second way I would wear this dress which is perfect for travel and I am loving the length! There’s two sizing options for it, and under $26! Total steal!

This jacket I have worn several times, I love the moto style and also the material is so so comfortable! Its like wearing a sweatshirt! I paired it all in this outfit with our ever popular wedge sneakers and a neutral and trendy backpack!

This whole look was inspired to just show how you can mix around your favorites and create a totally different and fun look!

Fall Roundup: Back to School and a Target Run

Hey Friends!

Um yeah, so I thought today was Wednesday but it’s really Tuesday! Still living that “last day of summer” though, so we will just finish off the day with Starbucks and a Target run! Duh!

I am excited to finally have my Roundup for the new items at Target! There are really some great pieces, some are still coming in the mail to me, but I will DEFINITELY show you when they come in! There are SO many great pieces to help you update and will definitely be easy on your wallet! Stay watching stories, I will be sure to do more tryons for you!

My outfit here in particular has a couple pieces that I am LOVING!  My jacket has the MOST fun details and my dark denim is high waisted and super stretchy!

Evereve Sale Roundup

 

These pants are apart of the sale- They are so so COMFY and I sized down to a M! 🙂

I selected a full range of choice from shoes to jewelry! I rounded up all the items I have recently purchased that I love and are now on sale as well as anything else I found!


 

The Maxi Dress: 50 Under $50

Hey Friends! Baseball is all done and we are getting down to our bucket list items for fun things to do! I decided to do a roundup of Maxi Dresses. There are so many of us that aren’t into shorts, and sometimes not into a jumpsuit. Maxi Dresses are classic and elegant. You can stay comfy, and fashionably super smart!  A Maxi Dress can elevate your wardrobe in any situation, and can be worn in any kind of situation- from backyard barbecue to wedding guest! What’s great about it too, is that you don’t really need much jewelry especially if you have a statement dress like the one I’m wearing!

The Maxi I’m wearing here is a great one because its a T-shirt material which keeps it comfy, and the floral  is perfect for an evening out! Unfortunately mine is sold out (story of my life) BUT there are still so many great choices that I have hand selected. I have rounded up 50+ Maxi dresses UNDER $50! I have them for any situation and just about any kind of print!

First Day of Summer with Navy and White

Happy First Day of Summer Friends!

I hope you all have been enjoying your summer break so far! Baseball is nearly at the end, I’m sad but at the same time I am excited to have more room in my schedule! I am planning to head over to the pool a bit more for sure!

Today’s outfit is simple, but a little out of the normal for me. The reason is that I am a typical “Wear Black” or “Black is my Happy Color” type of girl. My taste has been changing slightly,  in that I am open to more navy blue options. Personally, I think that navy has a nice “summer black” feel, it’s forever classy but also still relaxed.  My Navy and White outfit here is a perfect example of the classic simplicity. Here I paired my go – to white capri length  denim with the cutest navy blue t-shirt top.  I added a fun little spin to it with the pop of color on the jewelry!

My denim is super versatile and has a great amount of stretch to them. They don’t lose their stretch they remain super comfortable! Now the t-shirt is a definite “outfit maker”. It was an easy choice for me at the store not only because it was comfortable, but the sleeves add just enough interest that you don’t really need anything else to add to the outfit!

My jewelry, is a showstopper on it’s own, this summer color is AMAZING! I have had my cocktail ring for a while from Mother’s Day, but I added a few more pieces to my collection and I could not be happier. These pieces are great on their own with simple dresses too! They are super versatile, terrific quality and are great gifts too!

Summertime Casual T-Shirt Dress

Hi Friends!

Gosh we have had an action packed week!  Summer is in full swing here in our house!  Unfortunately we have been rained out SEVERAL times at the pool, BUT, the kids are having a great time and getting to bed early… so mama can’t complain. 🙂 I hope you all are enjoying the heck out of your summer too! Let’s get to the outfit shall we?

It’s been so hot lately, that I feel like I have been living in dresses- I have shown swing dresses a lot lately but there’s another style that I’m totally in love with. If you follow anyone else, I am certain you have seen this style dress before. BECAUSE.IT’S.THAT.GOOD.

Ruching is magic and the lightweight material makes this a legit winner. It really is great for just about any casual situation.

I styled it with and without a white denim jacket. Take it on vacation, wear it to your sporting event. I promise,  you’ll be “Best In Show” and super comfy! The specific color that I’m wearing is currently on sale, but there’s SO Many colors, I would definitely encourage you to grab a couple. I sized up for length and comfort. Wine Tasting and Eyelet Stripe Dress

I had THE most fun afternoon this spring and completely by accident! I was out and about shooting for my upcoming blog posts, and I decided to stop in to the new wine tasting room in Downtown Powell. You know I am always up for a new wine find!  I have seen that Annie’s Wine Cottage had opened last year, but up until now, haven’t made it in. But I will tell you,  I am sure glad I did!

This little quaint cottage is chock full of all ranges on wine, fun gifts and snacks! Essentially you can stop in any time of day and do a complete tasting of any of the 7-9 wines she has open that day! I met Anne, and she was so welcoming and ready to share a glass of wine with me at 11am! She is definitely my kind of girl! Since my original visit, my husband and I have since taken nearly our whole family there, sit out on the porch relax and have a taste of Powell. Making friends with Anne and her husband, who host us each time has been fun and always entertaining! Anne is super knowledgeable of the wines she offers, if you are looking for a special bottle of wine as a gift or special occasion, she can make a great recommendation for you! Annie’s  also offers to host private parties for bridal showers and any special event you might have. Hi Friends! I hope your week is going well! Mine has just flown by! I recently announced that I was hosting another shopping even this month- and this time with THREAD, an amazing boutique here in Columbus- located in Grandview. I shared with you a recent try. on session and gave you a peek into what the store looks like as well. TOTALLY beautiful! The items in the store are carefully selected and I felt like a MILLION DOLLARS during that session!

The outfit on this post is another couple pieces that I recently picked up from THREAD, and I am so in LOVE with them! So much so that it has inspired my to show you how I would style it for a summer date night!

I love this fun tank with crochet accents- Its so great for summer and the neckline is perfect! The scarf I have been obsessed with! I love the bright colors and it give just the perfect touch of extra.

Floral + Gray and getting REAL personal.

My weekends tend to be crazy booked and this past was no different! Being able to to have some time to organize my thoughts and myself really is so good for me!

I also have been reflecting a bit about my “Why” and what my purpose is here with this blog and what I decide on for the content of it. I did dive into this a bit on my Instagram Story Highlights, on why I created TheMomInStyle, and what I feel my passions are. Feel free to take a look at that as well, but I feel I can at this time go a bit deeper. See, there was a LONG period of time in my life where I felt completely unfulfilled in inadequate. I felt I had no strength physically or mentally. My days dragged on, I felt I had no purpose and didn’t really know what I was doing with my life. I used alcohol and food to make myself feel temporarily better. Do that for several years, my mind and my body couldn’t really take much more.

One day, pregnant with my second baby, I felt like I couldn’t breathe just walking in the parking lot of a store. I know when you’re pregnant, things tend to be a little off, but I KNEW deep down inside, I had eaten myself to a weight that my body could no longer handle. In that moment I felt disgusted with myself and snapped. I  knew that I could no longer do this to myself, and I vowed to MYSELF and FOR my boys- I would turn this around.

BUT HOW?! When you get so deep into something, and you create such horrible habits for yourself, and your negative self talk is SO STRONG.. HOW do you actually turn it around? When I gave birth the second time, I was JUST shy of 300 lbs. So where do you start? What I did was educate myself,  on food, exercise and heathy habits. I surrounded myself on Facebook, Instagram with accounts that I felt were going through the same thing as me.

This education/workout videos/ friendships eventually snowballed into more and more curiosity on how I can be the BEST version of myself. (You guys when I started I LITERALLY walked a MILE in my basement or did 30 minutes on the elliptical.)  My Mantra has been “My life will get better when I do.”  and it’s still able my sink . Starting small and  building from there led me to eventual success. I shed over 100lbs but my strength in my mind is something I never expected.

TODAY:

This leads me to where I am today. This blog, and my dreams of styling women- are for one purpose- to help those in the same place I was for far too long. I’m not here to preach my fitness routine, or tell you what to eat. Or even to buy my outfit. (gasp)

THE PURPOSE… is to inspire and To say ” You can too.”

You guys, its hard to put myself out there, and share so much. Going through all this though.. and the pain and struggle, its what gives me the confidence to do all this. And somewhere…. someone NEEDS THIS. I have a responsibility to share.

Life is messy ladies, and there’s so much more to MY Story than an outfit. My parents are divorced, I have a blended family, I’ve been overweight, my Dad is fighting a life threatening disease, I’m always unsure if my kids are going to make it in the world. Did I prepare them enough? The list GOES ON. But I’m fighting through it, and working hard to be the best I can be for myself and my family.

I want you to know, I am with you sister. I have a love for fashion, and my purpose is to help. Show what you can do from what you have, and If you don’t have it, hopefully we can get a deal on it. It’s all apart of puzzle that helps us be the best we can be.

ABOUT THIS LOOK:

This outfit is nothing new I have purchased, its all just pulled out and put together on the fly.  Just like we do nearly everyday. Perfectly themed for the focus of this post to be more about LIFE than what I just bought.

 

 

Nonetheless, It made me feel good the day I shot this look. So there is no reason why I wouldn’t want to pass this feeling on to you, my friends.  Just keep in mind, if I get blessed enough to have you follow along here and on Social Media, the outfits are NOT about comparison, its to help inspire.
