When it comes to personal style, how we decide to make a statement is different for each of us. Some like more subtle, some of us like to make a BIG impact, and sometimes its right in the middle. Honestly that can change day to day, and it all depends so much on how you are feeling right that moment. I just love that personal style gives you the permission to change your mind at a moment’s notice.
Statement pieces are a FUN way of adding to your collection of clothing that you already own. Adding a piece of trendy jewelry or shoe can just change your whole outfit! As far as how to make a statement, that is completely up to you.
In writing this blog post I had so many ideas for ALL THE THINGS.. of course. So I am going to break it down without going overboard on ideas all at one time.
This will be a series of blog postings covering each item piece. I won’t make you wait too long though.
As far as clothing and accessories are concerned, you can make a statement in a few ways. In my opinion, statement pieces are the “Star of the Show”, so I would not do more than one in a single outfit. My strategy in styling would be to use all your other items you wear in that outfit to be complimentary in color to help it stand out.
The first kind of statement piece is Jewelry. And I’ll show you some examples so you can replicate it at home.
Jewelry
My everyday jewelry tends to be pretty simple, so when I wear it as a statement I feel it makes a big impact. 1-2 pieces is all it takes! I recently posted a couple cool trendy finds for myself and I love them! Pair earrings with a bracelet or cocktail ring. If you don’t like dangle earrings, try a statement post or ear crawler. Keep your “backdrops” of your clothes simple to show it off. Also a work wear dress, t-shirt or tank and cardigan is perfect for a super cool statement necklace, this can be a bib necklace, long necklace with a charm or a Lariat style.
My favorite ready to shop trends are here: Including some of the items pictured.
The important thing to remember is that it doesn’t need to be complicated and it should make you feel great about yourself! If it doesn’t, do it!
STYLE TIP: If you are new to statement pieces, start by finding a style you like to wear, such as earrings, and look for an inexpensive option before splurging to go with your favorite outfit. That way you can decide for yourself if it works for you! My picks are all great options for beginners or professionals!
And as always, I am here for you. Don’t be afraid to reach out, I would love to hear back about what you find or if you need a little more help!
